And a whole bike to go with them.
$220 from roadbikeoutlet.com... what could go wrong? (Well, needs better pedals and the seatpost leaves something to be desired...)
Anyway, we'll see how this one holds up. The previous single speed road bike made it through about five seasons, including a few tough Wisconsin winters. The drop bars are an interesting sensation, never rode with them before. May add some top bar inline brake levers eventually though, either that or get used to braking while riding the drops...

That thing is absolutely gorgeous Fred. I need to do another project. Sweet Baby Schwinn was 2 years ago.
Got Fern riding with you?
Well all I had to do on this one was put the bars, front wheel, seat, and pedals on, tighten the brakes, and air the tires. Took all of a half hour. Already have some better pedals on the way, and the seat will work, for now.
We're actually doing a short (13.5 mile) charity ride Saturday for the local Boys & Girls Club, and she's planning on bike commuting to work when the weather's nice enough for it. She's actually currently lamenting the fact that everyone in the country is apparently sold out of the bike she's had her heart set on (a 2011 Trek Allant WSD(the 2011 was green...)) In the mean time she's got a Trek 3700 that's in great condition for it's age (babied and stored indoors during the winter.) It's just not her ideal commuter.
I just picked up a 2012 Trek Allant WSD at my friendly neighborhood Trek dealer. The photos don't do the cork color justice. It's a gorgeous bike!
