Another Nordic Components Shotty Goody

Not too long after I picked up the Mossberg 930, I added a +5 extension from Nordic Components, followed not to far by a barrel/mag clamp from them as well.  I blogged a little about the extension before.

Today their new over-sized charging handle showed up.  One of the problems with the 930 series, including the tacti-cool SPX version, is that the OEM charging handle is small and kinda pointy.  This can be a bit of a problem for tactical and competition shooters, since it's pretty easy to miss the handle when clearing a malfunction.  Due to early QC issues with Mossberg, the 930 series is still playing catch-up with the after-market community.  There have been a couple other handles offered, but they've been pretty hard to come by.  Thankfully NC has gotten tooled up to produce one.

Nordic Comp machines the handle out of 416 Stainless Steel, and finish it off with a Melonite QPQ coat.  The body of the handle is hollowed out, so the handle is super light.  It actually feels lighter than the cast OEM handle.  The grippy part of the handle is also quite a lot larger than the factory part:

This gives you quite a lot more handle to manipulate:

The big chunky knobs are also very nice, not sharp and pointy, but still plenty of grip.  Even with wet gloves on, you'll still get a good grip.  And this handle beats the living snot out of the OEM handle for reaching up underneath the gun to rack the bolt.  Plenty of handle sticking out there for you to find.

If you're running the 930 in any way shape or form, it's well worth checking out Nordic Comp's offerings.

(And dear FCC, I paid for the stuff all on my owns.  So suck it.)

Looks good Fred! I'm thinking about getting a nordic extension for my supernova.
Hey- have you any experience with R&R arms?
Best,

I haven't heard of them until now. I've just gone straight through Nordic for their stuff.

Sorry, I was not clear. I was not referring to them with regards to the extension but in general. They are a DPMS dealer among other things.

Ah. From what I've seen with extensions, the Nordic ones are pretty high up there as far as quality goes. Very well built, great finish, and quite a bit customizable overall.
If you go that route you won't be disappointed.

Great, that alines with what i've already heard.
Thanks, keep up the good work, especially the reviews. I'm enjoying your blog.
